With the Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department, we invite ECA members to participate in the nation’s

annual Make A Difference Day by volunteering for the city’s fall GreenScape project on Saturday, October 27.

Make a Difference Day is a national effort encouraging groups and individuals to volunteer in their community

to improve the lives of others.

Volunteers participating in this year’s fall GreenScape are encouraged to take part in the Journey North Tulip
Test Gardens initiative. By participating, you will help scientists track season and climate changes around the
world. When your tulips emerge and bloom, it will

announce the arrival of spring in Annapolis. For more information, click here.

City-provided bulbs have all been allocated.

Questions? Email Marisa Wittlinger at mdwittlinger@annapolis.gov and provide your name, contact phone number and organization (if applicable).

Bulb pick-up will be held Monday through Friday, October 22-26 at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center located at 273 Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.

Highlights from SPRING Greenscape 2017

In the spring of 2018, Eastport neighbors worked together to clean up and maintain landscaping in Eastport parks to make our neighborhood beautiful. GreenScape takes place annually.

Anyone interested in finding a street end park to help clean up and plant, just email DianeButler827@aol.com. Join us as we work together to beautify the neighborhood!

We had lots of volunteers on that day to assist with gardening (planting and/or weeding) and general clean-up at the following Eastport parks:

  • Jeremy’s Way Park (end of Jeremy's Way off 1st Street)
  • Horn Point Park (Chesapeake Avenue and Horn Point Drive)
  • Turner Park (3rd Street and Chester Avenue)
  • Veterans Park (6th Street and Severn Avenue)
  • Annapolis Maritime Museum (2nd Street on Back Creek)
  • Bay Ridge Ave. (near Sailors Quay)

It truly is a great way to experience Eastport, meet the neighbors and do something nice for the community. All friends are welcome and free coffee and doughnuts were provided.

Fall GreenScape will be held on the annual “Make a Difference Day," Saturday, October 28. “Make a Difference Day” is a national effort encouraging groups and individuals to volunteer in their community to improve the lives of others.

Reservations for bulbs will be accepted starting Monday, September 11. Volunteers may order up to 100 tulip bulbs and 100 daffodil bulbs for each project. Planting recommendations for massed plantings are eight to ten tulip bulbs or five daffodil bulbs to be planted per each square foot of garden. This year the Recreation and Parks Department will  offer red tulips and yellow daffodils. The bulbs are free but only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To place a bulb order, please e-mail Marisa Wittlinger at mdwittlinger@annapolis.gov and provide your name, contact phone number and organization (if applicable), and indicate what public landscape area you will be planting and the number of bulbs you’re requesting. Bulb pick-up will be held Monday through Friday, October 23-27 at the Roger W. “Pip” Moyer Community Recreation Center, 273 Hilltop Lane, during normal business hours.
