Eastport Home & Garden Tour
Sunday, June 22
1 - 5 p.m.
Rain or Shine
Curious to know what lies behind closed doors in some of Eastport's most charming cottages and homes?
Now you have your chance with ECA's 3rd Annual Home & Garden Tour. Nearly a dozen homes on Chester, Chesapeake, 2nd and 3rd Streets are opening their doors to the strolling visitors. The tour includes a house built by watermen and remodeled by later owners who sought to preserve the home’s cottage roots; a house moved from the Naval Academy to Eastport and added onto by successive owners; a Victorian that was home to an old-time Eastport doctor, now expanded in keeping with the original house; three newer houses that display the diversity that is Eastport—one a contemporary and two echoing the Eastport vernacular; an updated 1920s craftsman filled with art; a 1940s cottage that might have been torn down but was instead cleverly expanded; and an early 19th century duplex, remodeled to adapt to today’s lifestyle.

The tour poster (left) and postcards are based on a watercolor by Rosemary Freitas Williams, an Eastport resident. The poster features Eastport treasures: the Barge House and Miss Lonesome on a sunny day. Oyster shells and reflecting waters also give a sense of the community's vibrant maritime roots. More of Rosemary's work may be seen at WatercolorsByRosemary.com.
ECA sponsors this annual event to further its mission of safeguarding the residential and maritime quality of Eastport and engaging in activities that promote, improve and protect the civic interest and well being of the community. Proceeds from the tour benefit local charities and community improvement projects.
There will be a door prize drawing for a Claire Murray hand hooked nautical rug valued at over $100. You do not have to be present to win.
Tour docent positions are still available. Docents receive a free tour ticket and the undying gratitude of tour organizers! To sign up, contact Dretta Peterson at dpetersod@aol.com or 443 482-9055.
